06.09.2017

On August 27, 2017, the 10-day Continuous Trial Operation of the Water Treatment Station for the Opole Power Plant was completed and the required qualitative and quantitative parameters of the water required by the Contract were confirmed. Next step on August 31, 2017 was a positive reception of the installation by the Removal Committee to take over the facility by the Opole Power Plant.

The station was solemnly commissioned for operation on September 06, 2017. The opening of the facility by cutting the ribbon was made by the director of the Opole Power Plant Bernard Ptaszyński, his deputy Adam Żurek and the President of Seen Technologie Andrzej Grygo. During the ceremony the new building was devoted by Rev. PhD. Rudolf Pierskała, Bishop of the auxiliary diocese of Opole.

The water treatment plant was designed and executed by a consortium: SEEN Technologie - the leader of the consortium, responsible for the technological range, commissioning and fulfillment of contract parameters, Instal Warszawa - range of reinforced concrete works, Elemont - the scope of electrical works.

Over the last years it is the largest investment after the construction of blocks 5 and 6 realized for Opole Power Plant.

The task of the new Water Treatment Station is to feed the cooling circuit of existing power units 1-4 and newly built 5-6 into pre-treated water, so-called “WUW”, and demineralized water, so called “DEMI”.

The following technologies were used in the treatment of surface water from the Mała Panev River:

  1. Pre-Oxidation with Chlorine Dioxide ClO2
  2. Coagulation and pressure flotation
  3. Filtration on anthracite-sand bed
  4. Pump house system for blocks 1-4 and 5-6 (8 pumps)
  5. 5. DEMI water production (ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, dual-ion exchanger)

The maximum capacity of WUW installation is 7200m3/h - over 170 thousand m3 per day. Maximum capacity of DEMI installations is 300 m3/h - that is 7,2 thousand. m3 per day.
